About Visits and Bookings

When is MIM open and closed?

We are open 9:30-17:00 and closed on Thursdays.

Do you have parking?

Yes, we have two parking lots.

Lot 1 has space for 40 cars, and Lot 2 has space for 100 cars and 8 buses.

Do I need a reservation?

Yes, both the Full Museum Tour and Short Museum Tour require advance booking.

If a tour has space available at the time of your visit, we may be able to accommodate you.

How far in advance can I book a tour?

You can book a tour up to two months in advance as long as we are open that day.

How many people can join a tour?

The capacity of the Full Museum Tour is 30 people, and the capacity of the Short Museum Tour is 50 people.

If your group exceeds tour capacity, please divide your group between tours.

Do children under six count towards tour capacity?

Yes, children under six (including infants) count towards tour capacity.

Can I change my booking?

Can I visit the MIM Shop without booking a tour?

Yes, you can visit the MIM Shop for free without booking a tour.

How do I book a tour?

You can book a tour online or via telephone.

Travel agencies, people who use a wheelchair, have low mobility, or need special assistance, please book via telephone.

*Please note that the tours include several flights of stairs, both up and down.

About the Tours

What kind of tours are there?

MIM offers two regular tours for you to choose from.

1. The Full Museum Tour is an in-depth guided tour which takes 90 minutes, and includes the Room of Earth, Gallery of the Wind, Room of Time, Water Theater and the Park of Light. The tour is guided from the Gallery of the Wind onwards.

2. The Short Museum Tour is a self-guided tour of the Room of Earth which takes 30 minutes. It does not include a guide or access to the Park of Light (including the create your own "My Ajipon" label).

Is it a guided tour?

The Full Museum Tour is guided from the Gallery of the Wind onwards.

Is MIM a barrier-free building?

Yes, MIM is a barrier-free building.

The tours include several flights of stairs, but elevators are also available. Please contact us via telephone if you have any concerns about accessibility during the Full Museum Tour.

Is there guidance available in languages other than Japanese?

The Room of Earth has pamphlets available in English, Korean, and Chinese. We also have an app you can download for audio guidance in English.
The Full Museum Tour guidance is only available in Japanese.

What is "My Ajipon?"

For an additional fee of ¥200 yen, you can create an Ajipon label with your picture on it. (Ajipon is our much loved citrus-seasoned soy sauce brand.)

About MIM

Does MIM have a nursing room?

Yes, MIM has a nursing room near the entrance.

Does MIM offer rental wheelchairs or baby carriages?

MIM has wheelchairs available for use.

If you wish to use one, please ask at reception. Please note that wheelchairs are available on a first-come, first-served basis with a limited supply.

MIM does not have baby carriages available for use.

Can I take photos inside MIM?

Yes,

you can take photos inside of MIM without flash.

Does MIM have a smoking room?

Yes, MIM has a smoking room near the entrance.

The rest of the building is non-smoking.

Can my pet come inside MIM?

No, pets are not allowed inside MIM,

except for guide dogs.

Can I eat or drink inside MIM?

No, food and drinks are not allowed inside MIM.

There is no restaurant on the premises either.

Does MIM have lockers?

Yes, MIM has lockers available for free near the entrance.
